More LeBron James In The Frontcourt
Throughout the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James showed he is as good as they come at the point guard position. Despite being 36-years old, he has shown no signs of slowing down and is in the midst of another excellent season, averaging a team-high 25.5 points and 8.0 assists per game to go with 8.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks.
Without Davis, we could see LeBron James push even closer toward averaging a triple-double. The team will be relying on him even more so, but his role could be adjusted slightly as well. If the Lakers are going to insert Talen Horton-Tucker into the rotation, it will give them a chance to push LeBron into the frontcourt to help soak up some of Davis’ minutes.
Given his high IQ and skill set, LeBron James can play any spot on the floor. If the Lakers are comfortable with THT or Alex Caruso running the show for stretches, they could unleash some James at center minutes for a new look small-ball lineup. With his improvement from the 3-point line, teams would not be able to sag off of James to help cover the paint.
Thus far this season, LeBron James has played 0 minutes in the frontcourt, according to Basketball-Reference. That will assuredly change without Davis in the lineup next few weeks.
