New York Knicks Receive: JJ Redick
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: 2021 1st Round Pick (via DAL)
This deal is as simple as it gets. The New York Knicks will be getting a sharpshooter from deep while the New Orleans Pelicans would be able to unload a veteran player who is not apart of the plan for the future.
Redick is still elite from deep and would come cheap for the Knicks if they were to sign him to an extension for the upcoming years. He would help tie the lineup together around the emerging Julius Randle along with RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson.
The Knicks have first-round picks build up from their trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks. They will have options when deciding which pick to send to New Orleans.
Right now, the Mavericks are not looking strong either which could throw wrinkle in the plan. Initially, it was thought that Dallas would be a postseason team which would make the pick easier to part ways with.
Let’s take a look at how this trade centered around JJ Redick would benefit both the New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans.
