Minnesota Timberwolves
Granted that they do not have Karl-Anthony Towns due to health and safety protocols, the Minnesota Timberwolves stink. This organization is a long ways away from being legit threats in the Western Conference and as a result, the Timberwolves should be wanting to add as much talent to their roster as possible, regardless of position.
Outside of Karl-Anthony Towns in the frontcourt, the Timberwolves have no reliable options, as Juan Hernangomez, Jarred Vanderbilt and Naz Reid are all unproven talents that are still growing as players. Aaron Gordon could be a big-time addition for this Timberwolves roster and give Towns the “sidekick” he needs in the frontcourt.
In the years he has spent with the Magic, Aaron Gordon has never been their “go-to” guy on the offensive end of the court, but he has been a very reliable third/fourth scoring option. With the Timberwolves, seeing as they have Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and both Malik Beasley and Anthony Edwards, Gordon would not have to go out and score 15+ points a night for them to be successful.
There is a real need for the Timberwolves to improve defensively, too. Aaron Gordon’s versatility as a wing defender would help Minnesota to add versatility as an overall unit and provide greater assistance for Karl-Anthony Towns on that end of the floor.
It will take time for the Timberwolves to turn things around and for them to be successful, but acquiring Aaron Gordon could be the start of something great for the Timberwolves. They desperately need another frontcourt threat and that third, reliable scorer on their team, which is why executing a trade with Orlando now to acquire the former No. 4 overall picks makes a lot of sense.
