Draymond Green’s Season-High In Points Is 11
During the Warriors’ championship runs, Draymond Green was not only one of the best defensive players in the NBA, but he was a terrific all-around offensive player. From 2014-2018, Green averaged 11.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.6 steals and shot 45.3% from the floor, 33.4% from three-point range.
Since 2018 though, Green has averaged just 7.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.7 assists and has shot 41.3% from the floor and 27.3% from three-point range. This season, he is averaging just 5.0 points per game with his season-high in points being 11.
Sure, he can go out and have nights where he grabs 8 rebounds and dishes out 14 assists, but in the long-run, Golden State cannot be legit title contenders with Green scoring 4 or 5 points per game. They need him to be the somewhat reliable perimeter shooter and playmaker he once was, which seems like just a memory at this point.
With Klay Thompson back could the Warriors contend for a championship with Draymond Green putting up the same numbers he is this season? Absolutely, but their chances of being successful this season with his current numerous are very minimal.
For the amount they are writing on Draymond Green’s checks, the Warriors should definitely expect a lot more from him in terms of offensive production, but if they feel they are getting value from him with what he is currently doing, then more power to them.
