Why This Trade Would Benefit The Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets are it full rebuild mode and they did it in an interesting way. In the 2020 NBA Draft, they went with the best available player in LaMelo Ball, who many believe was the best prospect of the whole draft class.

With Terry Rozier playing at a high level, this means the Hornets are loaded at the guard position and have some flexibility to make a move at the NBA trade deadline. Finding a trade suitor for Devonte’ Graham to better balance out the roster could be an advantageous route to pursue.

Montrezl Harrell was linked to the Hornets in NBA free agency as a potential destination. Charlotte could use another scoring option in the paint to provide further balance to their scoring attack. With Gordon Hayward playing at such a high-level, making an aggressive move of this kind makes sense.

This trade would be a huge benefit for the Hornets. Montrezl Harrell is a starting-caliber big man with great ability on both sides of the ball. He can put up big numbers down low and give the team a strong presence on the glass.

Cody Zeller is in the final year of his contract and isn’t nearly as dynamic of a scoring option as Montrezl Harrell. The Hornets could get a long-term replacement for Zeller without having to even wait until NBA free agency in the offseason to get it done.
