Both the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets made some big moves in the offseason. They are often very different starts to the year teams headed into different directions. This is where a deal come in to help both sides ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Let’s start with the Lakers. This is a team coming off an NBA championship with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way and they only got better in the offseason.
The Lakers made a trade to acquire a Dennis Schroder from the OKC Thunder which helped the point guard position. Montrezl Harrell then signed in free agency and Marc Gasol came over as well. LeBron James and Anthony Davis signed extensions which means that the team is going to be near the top for a long time.
As for the Hornets, it is quite the opposite. This is a rebuilding team with an extremely unbalanced lineup. They used the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft on LaMelo Ball. He joined Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham in the backcourt.
The Hornets are very weak down low and it will only get worse from here on out. At the NBA trade deadline, they could look to make a deal for a big man and the Lakers could have a fit in Montrezl Harrell.
This particular trade would give the Lakers more help at the point guard position while the Hornets get stronger down low. Let’s take a look at a potential blockbuster deal between these two sides.
