Why This Trade Would Benefits The Charlotte Hornets
When looking at this from the other side, the situation is different. When playing devils advocate it is important to note the injury history of Gordon Hayward. This is some thing that clearly did not concerned the Charlotte Hornets in the offseason.
The Hornets signed Hayward to a four year, $120 million contract in free agency. This is a hefty price tag for a small forward with a history of injuries in recent years. Hayward’s hot start is exactly what the Hornets were looking for. He is helping them on the floor but also building up his value if the team were to trade him.
Myles Turner is a big man who has turned into one of the underrated stars in the game. He has an elite ability on both ends of the floor and would give the Hornets a boost and better fits the timeline of LaMelo Ball as opposed to Gordon Hayward.
The Hornets would be able to keep their three guards in the backcourt while adding Myles Turner to improve down low. When throwing in a first round pick, this deal seems like a no-brainer for the Hornets.
