Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
Dennis Schroder is having a good first year with the Lakers as he is scoring 13.6 points per game in 22 starts. After Schroder, the Lakers do not have another point guard on the roster other than Quinn Cook. Of course, Los Angeles is an exception because of one big player.
LeBron James is not only first on the team with 25 points per game but he also leads the Lakers with 7.5 assists a night. This is 3.3 more assists than the next man on the list.
Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis signed extensions this offseason which means the Lakers are going to be near the top of the conference for quite some time. The full focus can now be on surrounding them with cohesive pieces to maximize title contention odds.
There have been talks of the team being interested in adding another star. That might not happen in this move but Patty Mills is a capable three-point shooter who could get the Lakers some valuable minutes in the middle of a game.
It is going to be interesting to see if any team could beat the Lakers in a seven-game series. They coasted their way through the playoffs last season and that could be the case again this year if they make a productive move the deadline.
