3 intriguing future trade targets for Philadelphia 76ers to monitor

Houston Rockets, Eric Gordon, Miami Heat, NBA Rumors

Eric Gordon – Houston Rockets

Since trading away James Harden, the Houston Rockets have been surprisingly good. They are 6-3 since making this deal with the Brooklyn Nets and are currently on a five game win streak. Guys like Christian Wood, Victor Oladipo and John Wall have been fantastic for this team the last few weeks, but with their abundance of wings, they could look to move a player like Eric Gordon who is tied down to a long-term contract.

Eric Gordon has consistently been one of the better offensive players for the Rockets year-in and year-out and is now in his fifth year with this organization. Up until last year, Gordon was extremely durable and played in almost every game for the Rockets.

Over the course of his career, he has averaged 16.6 points and has shot 42.5% from the floor and 36.9% from three-point range. After dealing with some injuries last season that kept him sidelined for most of the year, Eric Eric Gordon has looked great to begin this season with the Houston Rockets and could be an excellent fit on the wing in Philadelphia.

Not to mention, former Rockets’ GM Daryl Morey is the new President of Basketball Operations for the 76ers and has always been high on the production Eric Gordon gave his Rockets teams through the years. Bringing him to Philadelphia would definitely be of interest to Morey, but the question is what the Rockets would want in exchange.

The Rockets and the 76ers have been linked with one-another over the years due to possible James Harden for Ben Simmons trade scenarios. Ultimately, the 76ers did not make any deals with the Rockets, but Eric Gordon is a player Houston could still look to trade this season, especially since he is owed $54.6M in guaranteed money through the 2022-23 season.

Whether it is knocking down a big three-point shot or taking the ball to the rim, Eric Gordon is one of the more underappreciated wings in the entire league. He is consistently one of the better bench players/secondary players in the league and with Philadelphia, he could continue having the success he has had in Houston over the years.
