Zach LaVine – Chicago Bulls
If the 76ers truly want to go “all-in” on winning a championship this year, then they should do everything they can to trade for Zach LaVine. The only catch though is that LaVine’s asking price is at an all-time high and Chicago may want a player like Ben Simmons in-exchange for him.
If this is the case, then the 76ers should walk away from trying to pursue Zach LaVine at the NBA trade deadline, but if they are able to keep Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris, then they need to trade away whoever else the Bulls would want in order to acquire the 25-year old guard. Not only is he having an All-Star like season this year, but Zach LaVine has been putting up All-Star like numbers for years now.
Since joining the Bulls ahead of the 2017-18 season, Zach LaVine is averaging 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and is shooting 45.5% from the floor, 37.9% from three-point range. He is the best player in an organization that has not eclipsed 27 wins in three seasons and is in the prime of his career, making him a prime trade target for a lot of championship contending teams.
Not to mention, Zach LaVine is only owed $19.5M this season and next season, making him pretty affordable given his production over the years. Who knows if either side would accept this trade, but the 76ers could potentially offer Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz, Matissee Thybulle and a slew of draft picks to acquire Zach LaVine while keeping Ben Simmons.
Philly has been adamant on wanting to keep Matisse Thybulle, but if that is what Chicago wanted in-return for a player like Zach LaVine, then the 76ers should be willing to part ways with the young defensive-minded guard. Trading for LaVine gives the 76ers the best starting rotation in the league and makes them the clear-cut favorites to win the 2021 NBA Finals.
