Evan Fournier – Orlando Magic
Now in his 9th season in the NBA, Evan Fournier has turned himself into a high-volume and very reliable sharpshooter on the wing. For his career, Fournier is shooting 37.5% from three-point range and has been one of the Magic’s “go-to” options on the offensive-end of the court over the years.
Given the Magic’s lack of success though and the fact that he is in the final year of his contract, Evan Fournier is an interesting name that has come up in trade rumors recently. Philadelphia is one of the better overall offensive teams in the entire league and with the addition of Fournier, they could become even more lethal.
The goal of the 76ers this offseason was to go out and try and surround Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons with as many scorers and shooters in the backcourt/on the wing as possible, which is why they added Danny Green, Seth Curry and rookie Tyrese Maxey. Adding Evan Fournier to be this team’s third/fourth best scoring option not only opens up the court more for Joel Embiid to play one-on-one, but gives the 76ers another great three-point shooter.
Given all of the injuries this team has dealt with this season and the amount of players that have missed games due to health and safety protocols this year, we have rarely seen the 76ers at full-strength. Danny Green and Furkan Korkmaz are two high-level three-point shooters that have been excellent role players for Philly, but Evan Fournier brings a new dynamic to this 76ers team on the wing that they could desperately need.
When Joel Embiid is out of the lineup, the Sixers really struggle to find production outside of Tobias Harris. Ben Simmons is very streaky as a scorer and other guys like Shake Milton, Danny Green and Seth Curry are not known for being explosive scorers. Getting a guy like Evan Fournier eases things for Philly when Embiid is not in the game and gives them that other secondary scoring option they could definitely use.
