Why This Trade Would Benefit The Detroit Pistons
There is plenty of work that needs to be done in Detroit. Dwane Casey is a strong head coach but he could use some players on the court. They were aggressive in the offseason and built the team in an interesting way.
As we creep closer to the NBA trade deadline, the Pistons could be sellers and it could begin with Rose. Detroit has continued to be among the NBA’s worst teams in the league despite the emergence of Jerami Grant. Not capitalizing on expiring contracts would be difficult to justify.
The Pistons drafted Killian Hayes with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He has been limited to just seven games because of an injury. Detroit is hoping that they have the point guard of the future. Saddiq Bey is another rookie that is looking like a solid piece for the future.
The Pistons are in a position where they would benefit from getting younger. Both Kyle Kuzma and Alex Caruso have plenty of experience for the Lakers and would be able to give Detroit some valuable minutes. The second-round picks would be able to be used in other deals.
The front office in Detroit will have to make some sort of moves at the deadline. It will be interesting to see if Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose are moved sometime this month.
