Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets

The Rockets have now been involved in blockbuster deals in recent months. It has to be a weight lifted off their shoulders to get James Harden out of town. It was interesting to see the franchise acquire Victor Oladipo as quickly as they did but it shows that they have a plan.

That plan could be to flip Victor Oladipo for more of a return. If they wanted to keep Oladipo around, then a contract extension is in the works. If not, this was a move to trade him again. It would not make sense for the Rockets to make the deal with Indiana just to let Oladipo walk in free agency.

They are not a win-now team with hopes of a championship this season after trading their two big stars, James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

This deal would get them another draft pick and some young players that could be pieces for the future. The new-look front office in Houston clearly has a plan and they are putting it into motion.
