Why This Trade Would Benefit The Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics added Tristan Thompson down low as their big move in free agency. They had three first-round picks that they chose not to move for help in that area. To win a championship, it would help the Celtics to either improve their bigs or add some more along the perimeter.
In this particular deal, they would choose to add help along the perimeter. Victor Oladipo would bring star power to Boston along with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He is in the final year of his contract, which means Boston could use him as a short-term option and decide what to do next year.
PJ Tucker is another great fit for the Celtics. He is a sharpshooter out on the three-point line that Boston could use. He is used to a fast-paced offense and one that has guards penetrating the lane. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown would also get help on defense from Tucker, too.
The Celtics showed holes during last year’s playoffs. They remain one of the top teams in the league but could still choose to improve prior to the deadline.
