Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors
During the offseason, there was a lot going on for the Toronto Raptors. They made it a priority to sign Fred VanVleet to a contract and ended up getting a four-year, $85 million deal done. This made VanVleet the cornerstone player moving forward, along with Pascal Siakam.
The Raptors also lost some key players in free agency such as Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol. Losing pieces in the frontcourt was a bigger hit than Toronto expected.
The Raptors are off to a slow start this year and are not looking like the championship contenders they have been in recent years. Because of this, Masai Ujiri could look to make some big moves at the NBA trade deadline. Trading Lowry would be one of the biggest moves the Raptors could make.
In return, the Raptors get back another starting-caliber point guard in Kemba Walker and players with significant experience. It will be interesting to see which route Toronto goes at the NBA trade deadline. They could be buyers and go for it again or sellers and decide to retool the roster.
