This Nets-Timberwolves trade is centered around Kyrie Irving to Minnesota

Why This Trade Would Benefit The Brooklyn Nets

The Nets initially brought Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to Brooklyn in hopes of competing for four years. Year one was derailed due to injuries to both players. Here in year two, the Nets are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and that is not going to change. They now have some leeway to trade Irving after the mess a few weeks back.

First, Kevin Durant has not missed a beat after returning from a torn Achilles. He is scoring 30.4 points per game and shooting 51.8% from the field. Durant is also shooting 44.6% from three-point range. The acquisition of Harden gives the Nets some room to trade Irving. They were forced to give up a ton to get Harden and this trade would help replenish those assets.

Russell and Beasley would give them some more options on the offensive end. Beasley is second on the team averaging 19.6 points in 16 games. The Nets would also get back two first-round picks, which they need after giving years of draft capital to the Houston Rockets.

Brooklyn is a team that is ready to win now. As good as Irving is, there are other factors to take into account. With the current makeup of the roster, there are plenty of options that they could decide between leading up to the trade deadline.
