The Brooklyn Nets have been in the news since the offseason for many different reasons. It began with high expectations with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving prepared to return from injuries. The Nets are currently 11-8 on the season and have NBA championship aspirations this season. As we approach the NBA trade deadline, the Nets could be looking for a big trade.
This would be their second blockbuster deal of the season. James Harden was sent to Brooklyn in a massive trade. This created one of the best big three’s we have ever seen. The only problem was that Irving was not playing when Harden was acquired.
Irving missed time due to personal reasons and did not keep the organization in the loop. This caused some tension between Irving and the front office. When he plays, Irving is one of the top players in the league. He is averaging 28.1 points in 11 games this season.
If Irving is on the trading block, there will be many interested teams. The Minnesota Timberwolves are one that comes to mind immediately. Minnesota is currently 4-12 and near the bottom of the Western Conference. Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best big men in the league but will be out with a wrist injury for the foreseeable future.
D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 20.5 points per game this season. A trade for Irving would give the Timberwolves their next franchise player.
This would be another blockbuster trade in the NBA. Kyrie Irving would go to another yet another team. Let’s take a look at what it would take to get Irving in Minnesota.
