Why This Trade Would Benefit The San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs have somewhat of a chance to be competitive in. the loaded Western Conference. However, there isn’t much of a reason to keep a team with its top two veterans on expiring contracts for just one more mediocre NBA campaign.

DeMar DeRozan is owed a ton of money this year. With the current state of the roster, players like DeRozan or LaMarcus Aldridge do not fit into the plan moving forward. Dejounte Murray is an intriguing option in the backcourt and Terrance Ross would add to that. He has been a scorer off the bench for many years now.

The Spurs could use some depth. Mo Bamba is the question mark of this trade because of his injury history. Gregg Popovich could be the coach to help Bamba elevate his game through San Antonio’s player development.

San Antonio has no benefit to keeping DeRozan this season. They are not a championship team and are paying him a ton of money this season. Getting out of the current situation would be the best thing for the franchise moving forward.
