Why This Trade Would Benefit The Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic have been a low seed in the postseason for the past two NBA seasons. They have not had a chance to advance because of the teams they were playing. This season, the Magic have their sights set on being a higher seed so they have a better chance to advance.
The Magic can do this by adding another big-name player. The NBA is driven by individual stars and teams are starting to pair them all together. This is a chance for the Magic to add a star on the perimeter with Nikola Vucevic in the frontcourt.
Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier have been solid names at the guard positions this season. This is a chance for Orlando to add a new leader on and off the floor. DeRozan has great postseason experience and could bring a new dynamic to the team.
Orlando is looking to become relevant this season. They have been in the middle of the pack recently and need that extra piece to take that next step.
