Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Lou Williams, F Patrick Patterson, C Mfiondu Kabengele

Given the chance the Los Angeles Clippers have to win a championship and the fact that they do not have much depth, they may think twice about trading away two key veteran players, especially Lou Williams, but this trade sets them up for future success, something they do not have at the moment.

Taurean Prince is an intriguing name for the Clippers as he has seemed to get buried on the Nets roster behind wing shooters, as Brooklyn has gone with a smaller, high-volume shooting lineups. Prince played well last season, playing in 64 games for Brooklyn and averaging 12.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and shooting 33.9% from three-point range.

With the Clippers, due to his physical nature and ability to rebound, Prince could carve out a role moving forward in the frontcourt, especially since Montrezl Harrell is gone and the Clippers do not have a true power-forward in their rotations.

Lou Williams could be an excellent addition to the Brooklyn Nets, especially since they do not have any reliable options behind Kyrie Irving, nor do they have reliable bench depth in their backcourt. The plan this season was to have Caris LeVert be their Sixth-Man of the Year candidate, but with Dinwiddie going down, LeVert is now going to have to start in his place moving forward, especially come playoff time.

Patrick Patterson and Mfiondu Kabengele are two guys that would be added to this trade to make the finances work, as both teams are financially challenged right now and limited on how much money in salaries they can bring in with trades. While Kabengele is a player who could get released following the trade, Patterson is definitely a guy the Nets would hold on to as a veteran on the end of the bench.

With all of that being said, let’s take a closer look at how both the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers can benefit from this trade with one another.
