Orlando Magic Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, G Mychal Mulder, MIN 2021 2nd Round Pick (via GSW), TOR 2022 2nd Round Pick (via GSW)

Any trade the Golden State Warriors would potentially make would definitely come around the trade deadline just because of the fact that they are way over the salary cap and luxury tax threshold and would have a big decision to make in terms of their financials moving forward. Not to mention, they would need to evaluate where they are as an organization now and if they need to do anything more to compete for a title.

Andrew Wiggins was acquired by the Warriors last season at the trade deadline in the trade that sent D’Angelo Russell to the Timberwolves and Golden State has made it seem like they have big plans for Wiggins moving forward when this team is at full strength. While that could very well be the case, Wiggins’ value is pretty high right now given that he is a proven two-way talent and the value they could get in return for him could be hard to turn away.

Aaron Gordon and Terrence Ross are two of the top scorers on the Magic’s roster this season and given that Jonathan Isaac is out for the year and that Chuma Okeke is out indefinitely with a bone bruise, this team is pretty thin at both forward positions, which is why they may not be too keen to trade away both Gordon and Ross together.

But, they would be getting a highly talented win in Andrew Wiggins, which could be the high-level talent they need to pair with Nikola Vucevic in order to make it out of the first round of the playoffs. Wiggins is fairly young at just 25-years old and with the Magic looking to build a young core for the future with Cole Anthony, Dwayne Bacon, Chuma Okeke and Jonathan Isaac, Wiggins could fit in perfectly due to his two-way play-style.

With all of that being said, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade makes sense for both the Golden State Warriors and the Orlando Magic.
