One of the biggest storylines heading into the 2020-21 NBA season was the contract situation of Giannis Antetokounmpo and if he would agree to sign a long-term contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. Before the season even began, Giannis and the Bucks agreed to a five-year, $228.2 million super-max extension that makes the two-time reigning MVP the highest paid player in NBA history. 

Antetokounmpo will be looking to win his third consecutive league MVP award this season and be the first player in league history to do so since Larry Bird did from 1984-1986 with the Boston Celtics. Not only will Giannis be integral to Milaukee’s success this season, but their key offseason additions will also play a major role in their pursuit for a championship. 

Jrue Holiday, D.J. Augustin, Bobby Portis, and Bryn Forbes will all be impact players for Milwaukee this season and be looked to throughout the year to take stress off of Giannis and Khris Middleton. The Bucks gave up a lot to bring Holiday to Milwaukee and he has not disappointed early on this year. 

Not only has he played his role of being the third option on this team perfectly, but Holiday has been a great facilitator and defender for the Bucks. Given his experiences in the league and being a veteran talent, Holiday will be one of this team’s main contributors all season long and give them a very good shot at making the NBA Finals for the first time since 1974. 

However, there are some other highly-talented teams in the Eastern Conference this season that will be looking to take down the Bucks in their own attempts to win a title. If the Bucks are to make the NBA Finals, they’re going to need to bring in another dynamic player in their front-court to help Giannis.
