Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
This trade is obvious for the New York Knicks. It gives their team a new dynamic and another centerpiece player in Buddy Hield to move forward with. Their successful start to the NBA season is unexpected so they should fight to stay relevant for as long as possible.
Both Frank Ntilikina and Kevin Knox have been disappointments since coming to the Knicks and neither has been used much this season. Ntilikina has played in four games and is averaging 10.5 minutes per night.
Knox has made an appearance in all six games for 22.7 minutes per game and contributing 6.7 points. There is room to trade both and it would help the Knicks right away. Obi Toppin and Immanuel Quickley are the two rookies who the Knicks hope get healthy and can contribute to the team right away.
New York finally has first-round draft capital to send away. They have some leftover from deals involving Kristaps Porzingis and Marcus Morris. This should persuade a team moving forward to make a deal with them. It will be interesting to see if the Knicks can finally land a franchise-type player.
