4 teams who should pursue a trade for Raptors’ Kyle Lowry

Orlando Magic

The Magic are in a weird place as a franchise because they have some talented young players to work with moving forward, but they have some older players on big contracts, leaving this organization with virtually no money to go out and bring in other talented players in free agency.

This offseason, Orlando let D.J. Augustin sign with the Bucks after being with the Magic for four seasons and they drafted Cole Anthony 15th overall to be their point guard of the future. They also still have Markelle Fultz, the former No. 1 overall pick in 2017, on their roster. With plenty of trade assets and the need for a leader, the Magic are very much in play for a potential trade with Toronto.

By packaging Aaron Gordon and Fultz alone, the Magic would be able to send out equal value, along with two future first-round picks in exchange for Kyle Lowry. Bringing in the six-time All-Star guard to lead this team could be monumental for Orlando, as they have made the playoffs in back-to-back years now, but have not been a true threat either year.

With Lowry leading this team, the Magic could absolutely be a team to watch closely in the Eastern Conference as Lowry, Vucevic, Fournier, and Ross definitely make for an interesting team.

The Magic also have been known to be an excellent defensive team under head coach Steve Clifford, as they ranked fifth in total team defense last season. Lowry is a proven defender and would fit in perfectly with the style of play down in Orlando.

If this team was to keep their current roster and not add another high-level talent, they are in danger of missing the playoffs this year and would not be going anywhere as an organization. They are stuck in limbo roster wise and financially until they acquire another high-level talent, which is why acquiring Lowry from the Raptors would change this franchise for the better.

Cole Anthony is definitely the future in the back-court for the Magic, but if they want to truly invest in winning now while they can, then bringing in Kyle Lowry to lead this team and be a mentor for the young talent in the back-court is the move that needs to be made.
