4 teams who should pursue a trade for Raptors’ Kyle Lowry

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers were a team with high championship aspirations last year, but their dreams quickly slipped through their fingers when they were up 3-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals to the Denver Nuggets and ultimately lost the series. With Montrezl Harrell departing for the Lakers and question marks around their play in the back-court, Kyle Lowry should absolutely be a target for Los Angeles.

Lou Williams and Patrick Beverley have played their roles great over the years, one being a scorer off the bench and the other being a hard-nosed perimeter defender, but that is about all they can do. Williams is a proven scorer, not a facilitator, and Beverley is nothing more than a tough defender who can occasionally knock down three-pointers on the other end of the court.

There has been no sustainability for the Clippers at the point guard position ever since they traded away Chris Paul, which is why bringing in a guy like Lowry makes sense in their efforts to win a championship.

In order to make a trade like this work, Los Angeles would have to trade Williams, Beverley, and Marcus Morris Sr., as they already have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, who add up to about $70 million in salaries.

With three All-Star talents in Lowry, Leonard, and George, the Clippers would absolutely solidify themselves next to the Lakers as the teams to beat in the Western Conference and they should have no problem reaching their first Conference Finals in team history.

Steve Ballmer and the Clippers want to do everything they can to bring home a championship within the next few seasons and trading with the Raptors for Kyle Lowry presents them with the best opportunity to do so. They would be giving up three veteran players for one veteran All-Star to help them win immediately, which is exactly what this franchise needs.
