Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Karl-Anthony Towns

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Devonte’ Graham, F Miles Bridges, C Cody Zeller, CHA 2021 1st Round Pick, LAC 2021 2nd Round Pick, CHA 2024 1st Round Pick

Now that is quite a hefty trade package the Charlotte Hornets would be sending the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Karl-Anthony Towns. While it may seem like a lot on Charlotte’s end, the asking price for KAT is as high as it will ever be right now, especially since the T-Wolves are unsure if they even want to trade Towns.

In 5 seasons with the Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns has been revolutionary and has solidified himself as one of the best big men in the entire NBA. Over the years with the Timberwolves, Towns has played in 358 games, averaging 22.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and shooting 53.3% from the floor and 39.6% from three-point range.

He can literally do it all from the center position and pairing him up with Gordon Hayward, LaMelo Ball, and Terry Rozier moving forward would be a dream come true for the Hornets. On the other side of things, the T-Wolves actually make out really good in this trade even though they are trading away their best player.

Devonte’ Graham is coming off his best season as a pro and Miles Bridges contains a lot of potential to be a fantastic wing player moving forward. In two seasons with Charlotte, Bridges has not really come into his own and has seen his numbers slowly start to decline. A new start for him could prove to be extremely beneficial and bring out the most of the former lottery pick.

Two NBA Draft picks in 2021 and a first-round pick in 2024 is extremely valuable to the Timberwolves as well because they would not only have a core group of players, led by D’Angelo Russell and #1 overall pick Anthony Edwards but be able to consistently bring in new, young talent through the draft.

If the Minnesota Timberwolves were to trade Karl-Anthony Towns, this is probably the best trade package they could get for him in terms of total all-around value, but who knows if they are willing to trade the face of their franchise. Let’s take a deeper look as to why this trade benefits both the Hornets and Timberwolves.
