Why the Trade Benefits the Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets made another improvement to their backcourt when they drafted Ball third overall. He will join Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham in the backcourt which means the team could be open to trading one of the three. With the contract situation, it is clear that Rozier would be the option.

The Hornets would still have great options in the backcourt with Ball and Graham. Rozier could land them a frontcourt option which is something they need moving forward.

Williams played valuable minutes off the bench for Boston last season and gained the experience necessary to be a contributor in the NBA. Langford is another prospect with a high ceiling in the league. Also, if Charlotte is able to get a first-round pick, that is the biggest factor in the deal.

Charlotte is still a few years away from contending but moves like this would put them on the right track. The Western Conference is extremely competitive and they need to continue to balance their team.
