Why The Trade Benefits The Knicks
The Knicks are in need of good players. Right now, that is not Kevin Knox. He has been a huge disappointment since coming to New York with the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
If they were able to flip Knox for a player like Kyle Kuzma, it would help the team immediately.
New York is hoping to have a core in place with R.J. Barrett, Obi Toppin, and Mitchell Robinson. They are young talents who would fit well with a star or two in the upcoming years. Kuzma is another complimentary player who would fit well on the perimeter. He has experience playing with some of the top players in the league and would bring a winning attitude to the Knicks.
This is a franchise that has fallen to the bottom of the league. They are hoping to improve with Leon Rose in the front office and Tom Thibodeau on the sideline. That has to continue with good players on the court, so any deal would be a good one.
Knox may not be valuable enough to net Kuzma from the Lakers, but the trade is intriguing. If they can get it done, the Knicks feel very good about themselves.
