Why The Trade Benefits The Lakers

A deal such as this one would benefit Kevin Knox more than the Lakers. It really has no effect on whether or not the Lakers will repeat as NBA champs, but it could give them a player that could turn into a playmaker off the bench in the future.

Los Angeles made a big move right off the bat in the offseason when they acquired Dennis Schroder from the Oklahoma City Thunder. That solidified the point guard position, which was a big need heading into the season.

Kyle Kuzma has avoided trades in the past, but there has always been a feeling that he would not be around long-term. Knox would have less pressure in Los Angeles because they were not the team that drafted him.

The Lakers came into the offseason looking to add another star if possible. That could still be their plan for the future. This is a trade that would give them another player to develop within the franchise and potentially be used in a trade in the future.
