Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Chicago Bulls
Although they may improve from 22-wins in back-to-back seasons, the Chicago Bulls are not in any shape to compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They have a lot of young, talented players, but this roster is in now shape to challenge teams in the NBA.
Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr, Coby White, Zach LaVine and now rookie Patrick Williams are all young players with a lot of potential and as they develop, could create one of the better young cores in the league, but they need an identity.
This team does not have a veteran leader who knows what it takes to win, which is why they need Derrick Rose. Outside of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, Derrick Rose may be the most beloved Chicago Bulls player of all-time by fans and he has gained a lot of respect from the rest of the league over the years.
The years of experiences he could bring to this team would be priceless and could really make a difference on some of these young guys’ careers moving forward. Coby White is the one guys who could end up benefiting the most.
In his rookie season, Coby White averaged 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and shot 39.4% from the floor, 35.4% from deep. He is primed to have a big, breakout second-year in the league and Derrick Rose could be instrumental to this.
Not to mention, the price for acquiring Derrick Rose is a lot lower than many would expect and getting him for two second-round picks and two players that do not have a future with the Bulls is a steal. Bringing back the “golden child” makes a lot of sense for the Chicago Bulls and if they want to, the Pistons would likely be more than willing to accept this trade.
