What Are The Expectations For John Wall & DeMarcus Cousins?

John Wall has not played in an NBA game since 2018. DeMarcus Cousins has suffered three significant low body injuries the last three years. There are plenty of question marks circulating around these two former All-Star’s abilities on the court and rightfully so.

Before dealing with knee, heel and Achilles injuries, John Wall had made 5 consecutive All-Star games and was one of the best pure point guards in the league. Before injuring his Achilles during the 2017-18 season, Cousins was a 4x All-Star and was one of the most dominant centers in the entire league.

Neither Wall or Cousins will be NBA All-Stars this season, but they could both very well end up averaging 15-18 points per game on a Rockets’ team that does not have a lot of scoring options outside of James Harden and if Harden is traded, it would set up an even better situation for Cousins and Wall to have great comeback seasons.

Overall, the Rockets are just hoping that both players can remain healthy and be solid complementary scorers. John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins have a chance to prove all of their doubters wrong this year and if they can remain healthy, can make a big impact on the Houston Rockets.

This preseason in three games, John Wall has averaged 16.3 points, 5.3 assists and has shot 47.5% from the floor. Cousins in three games has averaged 10.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and has shot 46.2% from three-point range. Wall still looks like the high-motor, aggressive player he was before his slew of injuries, but Cousins has changed his game a bit.

He looks a lot slimmer and while he may not be as strong as he once was in the low-post, Cousins looks like a much improved three-point shooter. Keeping these guys healthy is the Rockets’ main goal this season and both former All-Stars could be looking at solid comeback seasons.
