Is P.J. Tucker Going To Be traded Too?

After the Rockets traded Robert Covington and Russell Westbrook this offseason, there were a lot of speculations that P.J. Tucker could also be on the move as the Rockets looked to rebuild and free up cap space. They opted not to trade their veteran, versatile player this offseason and will likely hold onto him throughout the 2020-21 NBA season.

P.J. Tucker is a guy who has battled throughout his professional career to prove himself and has turned himself into a key veteran player for the Rockets. He was heavily valued this offseason by many teams as a result of his defensive tenacity and three-point shooting from the corner. Since joining the Rockets in 2017, Tucker has taken 719 corner 3-pointers, making 282 of those shots for a 39.2 percentage on corner 3-pointers.

Reports have surfaced over the weeks that Tucker and the Rockets have engaged in preliminary contract extension talks, but there is no deal that will come in the near future. P.J. Tucker is now 35-years old and only has a few years left in the NBA, so it is expected that any contract he receives will be only for an extra year or two.

Given his abilities to play numerous positions and be a great defensive player, Tucker holds a lot of value for any team in the league, which is why the Rockets do not want to give him up so easily. He still could be traded this season or work out a sign-and-trade next offseason, but as things are trending right now, it seems like Tucker will remain with the Rockets for the foreseeable future.
