Target #3: George Hill – Oklahoma City Thunder

With Kawhi Leonard’s ability to play the power forward position, along with Marcus Morris Sr.’s ability to do so, the Clippers do not have many needs in their front-court as they do with their back-court. Patrick Beverley has struggled to be a reliable scorer over the years and with virtually no depth at either guard position, bringing in an established veteran guard like George Hill would do wonders for the Clippers offensively.

Last season, Hill averaged 9.4 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 51.6% from the floor and a league-high 46.0% from three-point range. Over his career, Hill has always been a reliable, knock-down shooter from the perimeter, which is what the Clippers need next to Kawhi and George.

With a proven shooter and playmaker like Hill, the Clippers’ offense would be scary given their perimeter oriented players like Luke Kennard, Marcus Morris Sr, Lou Williams, and now Serge Ibaka. Hill also has been a part of numerous championship contending teams over the years and knows what it takes to win.

Hill was traded to the Thunder this past offseason after spending last season with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. During the 2017-18 season, Hill was a member of the LeBron James led Cleveland Cavaliers team that lost in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.

Hill knows what it takes to win and given his scoring abilities, he could be a very useful asset for the Clippers as they pursue a championship. With two veteran scorers in Williams and Hill in the back-court, Los Angeles would have two reliable third or fourth scoring options when on the court and make the Clippers a top three-point shooting team once again.

Assuming they could acquire Hill for a couple second-round picks, the Clippers would be in a great position to once again contend in the Western Conference given their potentially new back-court scoring option. The Clippers need to address their point guard position if they are to win a championship, which is why Hill is a player they could target who should have a small asking price.
