Why The Trade Benefits The Knicks
The Knicks have not had a franchise point guard in what feels like forever. It is almost as if Walt “Clyde” Frazier was the last elite point guard to walk through the locker room. One thing is for sure, there is no game changing point guard on the roster right now.
Both Elfrid Payton and Dennis Smith Jr. have been massive disappointments during their time in New York. Frank Ntilikina is just one of the many first-round busts that the Knicks have had over the years.
George Hill is a veteran player who would be able to control the offense and handle the ball. He would be a mentor to the young players and be able to set them up in position to succeed. The Knicks, more than ever, need a stable point guard at the top of their team.
This is not to say that Hill would completely change the dynamic and turn New York into a playoff team. Instead, this is saying that he could act as a coach on the floor to help the young players mature and develop in the upcoming season.
