This Knicks-Thunder trade helps New York move on from Julius Randle

The New York Knicks are in a position where they finally have a young core of players to build with for the future. That core does not include forward Julius Randle, who is quickly turning into one of the biggest enigmas on the team. In this deal, the Knicks would be able to move on from Randle with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

New York used the eighth overall pick in the NBA Draft on Obi Toppin out of Dayton. He will be able to team up with RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson as future pieces for the Knicks.

Heading into the season, New York is just looking for their young talent to develop and take the next step. This would help the team moving forward to acquire some free agent pieces. Tom Thibodeau has a chance to turn this team around, but it will take some time.

The Thunder are perfect trade partners for the Knicks. They are in a rebuilding stage, which means they will be open to deals that come their way. Sam Presti has made it obvious that he wants to acquire as much draft capital as possible. If the Knicks are able to send some over, then a deal could be made.

These two rebuilding teams could get together for a deal sooner rather than later. Here is what it might look like if the Knicks sent Randle to Oklahoma City.
