Sam Presti Makes Move For Big Time Superstar

After trading away virtually their entire team this offseason and gathering draft picks over the years, the Oklahoma City Thunder now own the rights to 18 first-round draft picks over the course of the next 7 NBA drafts and between first and second-round picks, they have 31 draft picks through the 2027 NBA Draft.

There is absolutely no way the Oklahoma City Thunder keep every single draft pick, which makes them one of the league’s top trade viable teams. With 31 draft picks over the next 7 years and close to $80M in cap room next season, the Thunder are in an unbelievable position as a franchise and in a position we have never seen in the NBA.

They have plenty of options of how they want to build their team of the future and it may consist of some of the best prospects in the draft over the course of the next several years, as well as a couple of the biggest stars in today’s NBA. Given their draft stockpile, virtually no player in the NBA is untouchable when Sam Presti is on the phone and we can expect the Oklahoma City Thunder to be extremely aggressive in their pursuit of who they want to acquire.

Realistically, the Thunder will likely wait until next offseason to pull off any kind of big time trade as doing so around the trade deadline would do nothing for them. This is an organization that has set themselves up for decades of dominance down the road and they do not want to screw this up.

Whether they are going to pursue a legit MVP candidate to lead this team or they draft 5-6 high-level prospects in the first round of the NBA Draft over the course of the next several years, the Oklahoma City Thunder have plenty of options on how they want to go about setting this team up for success.
