Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Averages 20+ Points Per Game
While the Thunder may be tanking and will not win too many games this year, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will continue to shine and prove that he is one of the faces of this franchise moving forward. The 6’5” combo guard had a terrific first year in Oklahoma City after being traded there ahead of the 2019-20 season, averaging 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shooting 34.7% from three-point range.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander started in every game for the Thunder last season and will be the young leader of the team moving forward. His talents to be a floor general and reliable scorer set him apart from anybody else on this roster and Oklahoma City will continue to challenge him in order to bring out his best.
Statistically, the 2020-21 NBA season will be SGA’s best season yet for the fact that they do not have anyone else they can rely on to score. Both Dort and Bazley are still growing and coming into their own as scorers and both George Hill and Al Horford are no more than veteran role players at this point in their careers, which means Gilgeous-Alexander could explode and have a monster third year in the league.
The Thunder can only hope this is the case for their 22-year old guard because given all of the draft assets they have acquired over the years, they will need a solid, reliable point guard who can carry the weight for what will end up being one of the younger teams in the entire league. They believe Shai is the guy for them and given the season he is going to have this year, the Oklahoma City Thunder front office will be very confident for years to come.
