Why the Trade Benefits the Indiana Pacers
There comes a time when a team like the Indiana Pacers should consider making a substantial move. Without a superstar, there simply isn’t going to be a championship in sight for any team and they are no exception.
Not having to give up Malcolm Brogdon, TJ Warren, or Myles Turner in this particular trade would leave the Pacers with an intriguing supporting cast around James Harden. There would be more than enough talent remaining to be a dangerous overall unit in the Eastern Conference.
Indiana would have the option of starting Warren at the four with Danuel House Jr. at the three spot or keep Warren at the three and have PJ Tucker alongside him in the frontcourt. Either way, they’d have an intriguing small ball possibility with a superstar guard running the show and a rim protector manning the middle.
Parting with Domantas Sabonis would not be an easy outcome for the Pacers given his emergence as an All-Star last season. The Houston Rockets seek a young ascending star and with Victor Oladipo not looking like his pre-injury self, Sabonis’ inclusion would be needed.
