Milwaukee is looking to take the next step towards a championship and that is what this trade would do. James Harden is also looking to play for a contender if he is sent out of town by the Houston Rockets.
Milwaukee has to worry about the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo. They cannot let him walk in free agency and get nothing in return. If he does not re-sign, the Bucks are hoping to know ahead of time so they could trade him. This could all be silenced if Milwaukee adds another superstar to the mix.
A move for a talent like Harden could persuade Antetokounmpo to remain long-term with the team that drafted him. Harden would give Milwaukee an outside threat and a player who can create his own shot.
