Why This Trade Makes Sense For The 76ers
Looking at the deal for the 76ers, it would make a lot of sense if they feel the Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid duo has reached its height. With Simmons being unable to show the ball, the deal could be exactly what the offense needs.
Too many times, defenses are able to lay off of Simmons. In the playoffs, that has caused him to go relatively quiet on many occasions. That is something the 76ers cannot continue dealing with.
Zach LaVine would be a nice addition and would fit perfectly alongside Embiid. Last season with the Bulls, he averaged 25.5 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He shot 45 percent from the floor and 38 percent from the three-point line.
Lauri Markkanen, on the other hand, could be a starting power forward or could be a force off of the bench. He averaged 14.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game last season. His ability to stretch the floor would be nice for the 76ers as well.
Moving on from Simmons would be a very tough decision for Elton Brand and company. They are going to give Simmons and Joel Embiid one more chance. However, if they get off to a bad start to the season, a trade deadline move could be an option.
