Washington Wizards

The Wizards just made one of the biggest moves of the offseason when they traded for Russell Westbrook, sending John Wall to Houston in the trade, but may not be done looking to acquire proven All-Star level talent. Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal alone can’t turn Washington into a legit contender, but with the addition of a player like Kevin Love, the Wizards could be a sneaky team in the Eastern Conference.

The reason the Washington Wizards are an interesting trade target for the Cavs in a potential Kevin Love trade is because of the young assets they have on their roster. Troy Brown Jr, Jerome Robinson, Moritz Wagner and Rui Hachimura all possess a lot of potential and with them all still being on their rookie deals, they could be targets for the Cavaliers to pair with their own youth. Not to mention, the Wizards still have some valuable draft picks over the next few years that the Cavaliers could definitely use.

If the Cavs are looking to receive young talent in return for Kevin Love, the Wizards are definitely an interesting trade target as they could definitely use a player like Love. Washington’s frontcourt is one of the worst in the league and 28th in the league last season in total rebounds per game. With Davis Bertans being a perimeter-oriented power-forward, this normally leaves the Wizards with one big guy in the paint against two to three opponents.

The addition of Russell Westbrook definitely helps the Wizards as a rebounding team, but bringing in Kevin Love solves all of their problems in their frontcourt. Thomas Bryant seems to be a reliable, young big man the Wizards can utilize over the next few years and pairing him up with Kevin Love will not only help him and his game a lot, but allows him to do what he does best, which is crashing the offensive glass.

Kevin Love could really open up this Wizards offense and give them a three-star player rotation they need to be able to contend in the Eastern Conference. Washington’s front office would not have traded for Russell Westbrook unless they had plans to build the Wizards into a championship contender over the next few years, which is why adding another big name seems likely to happen in their organization’s future.
