This Warriors-Pistons trade would pair Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Warriors

By the time the 2022 first-round pick comes around, the Warriors are planning to be an NBA Finals contender. At that point in time, a late first-round pick won’t be of much value. Derrick Rose, on the other hand, could be.

Rose only has one year left on his current contract. That leaves very little risk for the Warriors with this trade. If he doesn’t fit, they can let him walk and save the cap space, but they could choose to re-sign him if he does fit well.

Not only would Rose be able to step in and potentially start alongside Stephen Curry in the back-court now, he could be a perfect bench upgrade behind Curry and Thompson next season. It would not be shocking to see the Warriors re-sign Rose if they did acquire him this year.

Following a slew of injury issues, Rose has turned his career around over the last couple of years. He has been able to get to the rim, finish, and create looks for his teammates. Rose still has big-time talent and that was on full display last season with the Pistons.

Acquiring him this year would give the Warriors a fighting chance in the West. A starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, Kelly Oubre, Draymond Green, and James Wiseman would be solid, to say the least.

Only having him to give up two role players and a relatively meaningless first-round pick would be perfect for the Warriors. They should strongly consider making an aggressive pursuit of a trade for Rose.
