Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Pistons
First and foremost, the Pistons should be looking to get any kind of real value they can get for Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin. The only other option would be watching them leave for nothing next offseason. A rebuilding team has to find pieces and assets any way they can.
In this trade, the Pistons would be getting quite a bit of value for Rose. The most notable addition would be the first-round pick. That could be used to select another young player or potentially package in a trade.
Kevon Looney is not a big name, but he has been a solid role player for the Warriors. He could also be flipped for a second-round pick or something else. Jordan Poole is a 21-year-old guard who averaged 8.8 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game last season as a rookie.
Poole is not a great three-point shooter at this stage of his career, but there is room to grow. He could stick with the Pistons longer than Looney to be a role player and a depth option.
Being able to get the first-round pick from the Warriors would be ideal. That alone makes this deal worthwhile. The Pistons need to stockpile as many picks as they can get and this deal would make sense.
