On the other side of the trade, the Lakers are a team that is trying to add pieces to repeat as NBA champions. That is the only thing that matters to this franchise. Even though Alex Caruso is a fan favorite, L.A. would not hesitate to trade him if the deal made them better.
Well, this trade would make the Lakers better. Luguentz Dort would be the kind of defender that could take the Lakers to the next level.
Being able to harass players like James Harden, Devin Booker, Stephen Curry, and more would be extremely important. The Lakers don’t have an elite perimeter defender. Dort would give them that underrated weapon.
Dort is not going to be a player that comes in and powers the Lakers to a second NBA Finals win. However, he is the kind of supporting cast member that championship teams need.
Los Angeles should jump at this trade if they get a chance to make it. LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be the driving force behind the Lakers this season, but specialist players like Dort are necessary as well.
