This Lakers-Thunder trade pairs lockdown defender with LeBron James

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers are fresh off of winning the NBA Finals and the Oklahoma City Thunder surprised a lot of people by making the playoffs last season. These two teams are a the polar opposite end of the contention scale right now, but there is one thing that could bring them together. Luguentz Dort could bring them together.

That’s right, the guy who broke out and made a name for himself in the playoffs defending James Harden.

Dort is not a very well known player around the NBA. However, he showed that he is a top-notch and elite perimeter defender by giving Harden fits in the postseason. Now, the Lakers should consider pursuing a trade for him to bring that defense to them.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Thunder, Dort ended up averaging 6.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. In the playoffs, however, Dort raised those averages to 12.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 assists per game. Those numbers would have been even higher if Dort was a better three-point shooter.

All of that being said, Dort would be a great fit for the Lakers. His defense would help fill one of the only voids left, which is perimeter defense.

Let’s take a look at a potential trade between the Thunder and Lakers that would send Luguentz Dort to Los Angeles.
