Why the Trade Benefits the Sacramento Kings
If Buddy Hield is truly unhappy in Sacramento, it would benefit the Kings greatly to trade him for a return. If Kendrick Nunn and a first round pick are involved, then that would help the team immediately next season.
The Kings have an established young star in De’Aaron Fox. Kendrick Nunn would serve as a backcourt partner for Fox in the upcoming years. Players like Andre Igoudala and Kelly Olynyk have been on many winning teams throughout their NBA careers and could go a long way in changing the culture in Sacramento.
The first-round pick included in this deal would be valuable in many ways for the Kings. It could either add a prospect or use it in another deal moving forward. Regardless, it would help Sacramento to gain an additional asset while moving on from a player who hasn’t gotten on the same page.
The addition of Tyrese Haliburton in the 2020 NBA Draft for the Kings could immediately provide a replacement for Hield alongside Fox. Either that, or Nunn could fill the starting shooting guard spot. Sacramento has options either way.
