Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Pistons
For the Pistons, this trade would help them move on from a veteran who doesn’t fit their long-term picture. In return, they would be getting a guard who looked very promising in his rookie season.
Kendrick Nunn showed flashes of big-time scoring potential with the Heat last season. He averaged 15.3 points per game to go along with 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds. In addition to those averages, Nunn shot 43.9 percent from the floor and knocked down 35 percent of his three-point attempts.
Adding in Kelly Olynyk to this deal doesn’t make much of a difference. In fact, it would not be shocking if the Pistons tried to flip Olynyk in a separate deal.
Giving up Derrick Rose would be losing a fan favorite. But, they would show him respect by trading him to a serious contender to play alongside a big-time talent like Jimmy Butler.
Detroit would be getting talent and moving a player that doesn’t fit with them. It’s a win scenario for the Pistons.
