Why The Trade Benefits The New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans are in full rebuild mode. They sent Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks. They have loaded up on young talent, both in the draft and in trade packages. Redick is not apart of their future, so they might as well send him away in a deal.
Kendrick Nunn is a young player who fits into the theme in New Orleans. Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are the next generation for the Pelicans. Nunn just finished his rookie season and could look to grow with the Pelicans.
A first-round pick of the Lakers is nothing to hold on to. That is the one to trade because of the potion that it will be. It is clear that the Pelicans are trying to get younger and build up assets. This is just another possible deal.
New Orleans will make some moves this offseason and this could be one that helps both teams in the process. It will be interesting to see if and where JJ Redick is dealt.
