Why the Trade Benefits the Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers made some terrible decisions with their roster over the past few years. They let Jimmy Butler go but decided to give huge contracts to Harris and Al Horford. They have sent Horford to Oklahoma City and this is a trade that would allow them to get rid of Harris’ contract as well.
It is clear that the Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid experiment has not worked. Now, the team should be focused on adding the right role players around them. They failed to do so last season and have already made strides this offseason.
The 76ers lacked three-point shooting and have made deals for Danny Green and Seth Curry. In this trade, they would be getting another shooting threat in Tucker and a pure scorer in Fournier.
Philadelphia has not been taken seriously come postseason time and it is because of their lack of winning players. They need to put together a more complete roster full of depth. This trade makes it happen while dumping one of the league’s worst contracts.
