Why the Trade Benefits the Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets has made it clear that they will be a new-look team come the regular season. After years of failing to take the next step in the postseason, they made some changes at head coach and in the front office. Stephen Silas has replaced Mike D’Antoni as head coach and Daryl Morey is not in Philadelphia.
Westbrook and James Harden could be next. Harden has been linked to teams like the Brooklyn Nets. Both players seem to be unhappy with the current situation in Houston and could be on the move. This puts the team in a rebuild.
In this deal, they are getting back pro-caliber players such as Al-Farouq Aminu and Aaron Gordon. Fultz and Bamba have high-ceilings and could turn into elite contributors. Houston also gains two first-round picks in this deal.
If the franchise is looking to rebuild, they will do so by adding a core along with draft picks. This deal would land them both and they would have to give up Russell Westbrook and PJ Tucker.
